Beets!
One of the best parts about putting a raw beet in your morning green smoothie is that no matter how many greens you put in, the color of the smoothie stays red!

Week four!
Congradualations to everyone for making it through the liquid week. Isn't it amazing how fast this time has gone?? I am excited to try some new recipies this week: for dinner tonight I'm going to make the Stuffed Collard Wraps, and already have the 15-minute black bean salad marinating in the fridge for Tuesday when I get home from school.
This whole process has flowed so organically. I am so grateful to you, Christie, for sharing this with us.
Last night we finished our first batch of maple syrup!! It's been several long nights out by the fire boiling down gallons and gallons of sap, and is so rewarding to be able to see and taste the syrup that all of our hard work has brought us. We still have at least 25 gallons left of sap (!!) so it's going to be a long couple of nights this week finishing it all up.
I hope that everyone enjoys this last week of the cleanse!! Spend some time outside...it is finally feeling like spring up here in new york...Looking forward to seeing you all again on Sunday :)
Love!!

lemonade tip
Something I've really been enjoying as an evening dinner treat is drinking my lemonade hot as tea. I squeeze the lemon juice into a mug, add maple syrup and cayenne, and then pour in some hot water from the tea kettle. It's really comforting and yummy.

Clarification re Salt Water Purge
The headache and achy joints were BEFORE the salt water purge. The purge (the effects of which did last about 2 hours) actually helped with both pains. Achy tonight again so am loading up on the tumeric.
Did the saltwater purge. Achy all over like the flu. Bad headache like a hangover.
Was hot and am now cold. Want to stay in a hot tub all day but rather difficult to work from there. I think it was John Updike who had a special board he would place across his bathtub so he could work naked in the bath for hours. My tub won't accommodate such a board, alas.
Fermented Stuff
Here's the link to the water kefir website. http://www.eatcavemanfood.com/Site/Products.html I was wrong about it being fermented with raisins it's actually turbinado sugar. I was thinking of kvass which is another fermented drink. It's sometimes made with raisins and sour dough bread! Another great fermented company is Zukay. They make a couple different kvass drinks, fermented dressings, and salsa! http://www.zukay.com/ Happy Cultivating!! Charanpreet Kaur

Week three...
I am feeling very ready for this next week. i hope you are, too. So much is changing inside of me already.
For the past few weeks we have been tapping the maple trees on our land and collecting the sugar in buckets...we will be boiling the sugar in a few days...this is my first time ever collecting and making my own maple syrup and I am excited to be putting the syrup from these trees into my lemonade cocktail this week..
Good luck to everyone! Happy cleansing!
